Yesterday evening, Margaret Qualley became the first celebrity to test drive Matthieu Blazy’s most divisive Chanel slipper. First spotted in Biarritz during the brand’s cruise 2026 show, the Belgian designer introduced toe-less sandals, which were basically just a heel. The fact that they barely serve a purpose only made the internet more obsessed with them.
To make it even better, Qualley wore the shoes to the London premiere of The Dog Stars, getting her own dogs out to mark the occasion (now that’s method dressing). The sandals are the latest chapter in fashion’s current fascination with freaky footwear – see also Vibram’s FiveFingers, Loewe’s PVC boots or Saint Laurent’s recent see-through shoes.

Kerry Taylor Auctions has unveiled the theme of its upcoming auction: Comme des Garçons, as taken from the private collection of vintage specialist and collector: dot COMME. This weekend, Mulberry will take over Marylebone’s Shreeji newsagents, celebrating a new partnership with Ronan McKenzie (photographer and founder of Selasi). Mulberry is joining forces with McKenzie’s HOME, which is described as ‘a space for artists, ideas, conversation, gathering and community’. The three day pop-up celebrates all things summer, as well as Mulberry’s Darley Camera Bag.

Central Saint Martins has teamed up with McLaren’s Formula One team. 46 students from CSM’s prestigious MA Fashion course were divided into 12 groups, with each group asked to deliver one exceptional runway look, inspired by McLaren’s racing history. “This collaboration gave our students the opportunity to work with one of the most powerful brands in global sport,” said course leader Fabio Piras.

Casablanca continues its journey into Egypt with its AW26 collection, accompanied by a campaign photographed in front of the pyramids. With a focus on mythology and cosmology, the images are captured on location in Cairo by photographer Theo Liu, and act as a visual diary of a young traveller as she discovers Egypt’s rich culture. Converse has relaunched one of its oldest silhouettes, the Jack Purcell. Originally designed in 1935, by, you guessed it, Jack Purcell (a Canadian badminton champion), the brand has now reintroduced the style as part of its First String collection. The shoe will be available from September 2 in white and green colourways.
