Grammy-winning superstar Kali Uchis kickstarts a new musical epoch with a teaser single from her May-set fifth studio album, Sincerely. The new cut “Sunshine & Rain…” is softly intoxicating and unassumingly kaleidoscopic, with a nostalgic edge running throughout the gentle grooves and dreamy vocals for Uchis. 

Lucy Dacus – Forever Is A Feeling 

Lucy Dacus’ gorgeous fourth solo album is a gargantuan feat of gentility. With collaborators like Hozier, Blake Mills, Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, Dacus has concocted a delicate piece of art that envelopes you in its raw emotionality, and guides you through it to a brighter perspective. One of the best albums of the year, so far.

In the meantime, the unparalleled wordsmith and polymath has shared a second single from the forthcoming work; “Free” is mature, concise and soulful jazzy hip hop, Simz at her seamless and focused best.

Larger-than-life rap persona Rico Nasty is gearing up to share her new studio album, LETHAL, on 16th May. The new taste of the body of work comes in the form of “ON THE LOW”, a track that borrows from pop’s current glitchy and endoscopic zeitgeist whilst feeling inherently Nasty with playful bars and chopping flows.

UK jazz aficionado Venna returns with spellbinding self-produced single “Prophet”. The cut sees the Grammy winning saxophonist and producer pick up where he left off with his flawless previous output, effortlessly elegant and technically thrilling. The accompanying Aymane Alhamid directed video is one of the year’s most impactful to date. 

Yukimi – For You

One half of celebrated duo Little Dragon, vocalist and creative powerhouse Yukimi steps out as a solo artist with a fantastic debut solo album, For You. Released via Ninja Tune, the stunning musical tapestry sprawls across jazz, electro pop, hip hop and psychedelia with a soul-led core. Uniquely exploring love and loss, it’s colourful, cascading and considerably compelling.

Black Honey – “Psycho”

Moody and majestic, Black Honey’s return single is pure, unadulterated cinematic bliss. “Psycho” is a paragon of what the band are all about – grandstand hooks, playful lyricism and delivishly dark pop goodness. 

Coco Jones – “You”

One of the hottest names in contemporary R&B Coco Jones is building up a head of steam ahead of her forthcoming debut album, Why Not More?, set for release in late April. New single “You” is decadently performed and gregariously groove-laden.

DJ Python ft. Jawnino & Organ Tapes – “Dai Buki” 

Enigmatic producer DJ Python has shared “i was put on this earth” his first solo body of music in three years, and his XL Recordings debut. Lead single “Dai Buki” features London’s most lore fuelled MC Jawnino and the anonymous songsmith Organ Tapes, and is an ambient and trip-laden journey into glistening soundscapes and searing reflection.

Bb Trickz  – “not a pretty girl”

Charli xcx and Ice Spice collaborator Bb Trickz unveils a tongue-in-cheek, guise-heavy new single, “not a pretty girl”. The track samples Clairo and sees the Spanish singer and rapper bring snappy flows and flirty lyricism to a bubblegum backdrop.

Yaya Bey ft. Father Philis – “merlot and griglo” 

In a sonic shift from her decorated 2024 album Ten Fold, Yaya Bey kicks off a new chapter by celebrating their family’s Bajan heritage with a vibrant and homage-filled new single. “merlot and griglo” is a self-produced sultry single that borrows the charisma of Bajan dancehall artist Father Philis and announces Bey’s signing to NYC-based label drink sum wtr.

Amie Blu – “swimming in pity”

Stepping away from creamy soul and into rich and raw folk rock, Amie Blu flaunts her sonic diversity and brilliant songwriting on heartfelt new single “swimming in pity”. The South London singer-songwriter brings her most authentic self to the delectable instrumental, whilst the hook is an unassuming sing-along pile-driver. 

Chaos In The CBD – “Marlboro Sounds”

Cherished electronic duo Chaos In The CBD give us the latest look at their forthcoming 9th May-set record with a heady new single. “Marlboro Sounds” is a house-heavy head-bopper that twists, turns and triumphs across its zippy six plus minute run time. 

BEEFCAKE – “Smothering” 

Somewhere between FKA twigs and Jockstrap, the fresh single from avant garde duo BEEFCAKE is a softly stunning masterpiece. Plucked from a forthcoming debut EP, this pair have the artistic depth and technical nuance to rise swiftly and succinctly.

Finn Foxell – “EASIER”

Shepherds Bush rapper-singer Finn Foxell returns with surprise single “EASIER” taken from his debut album MAMA’S BOY out next month. “EASIER” showcases Finn’s raw emotion through his introspective lyrics, blending Rap and Rock to curate a sound that fuses the past and present of his artistic evolution. 

Skye Newman – “Hairdresser”

Jax Jones ft. sooyeon and Rebecca Black – “Bad Boys”

Joining up with forward thinking label Eastern Margins, dance mainstay Jax Jones enlists a motley duo for a glitching hyper-pop-adjacent gem. “Bad Boys” has vocals from Rebecca Black and co-production from party-starter sooyeon. Whatever combo of sounds and styles this is, it works – flawlessly. 

Maya Delilah – “Man Of The House”

Singer-songwriter and guitarist Maya Delilah has finally unveiled her much anticipated debut album, The Long Way Round, via Decca/Blue Note. Key single “Man Of The House” is a deft and dreamy folk pop anthem, with cracking guitar inflections and witty songwriting. 

Raquel Martins – “IF I GAVE U MY DREAM”

Progressing her immaculate musicality at each passing turn, alt favourite Raquel Martins merges jazz with folk-laden pop on a dazzling new drop. “IF I GAVE U MY DREAM” is performed with poise and potency, whilst the intricate guitar work is a pure joy to become enveloped within.
