現在Adidasと契約をしているKanye West(カニエ・ウエスト)リリースされる度に即完売、プレミアスニーカーとなっているYeezyシリーズ。話題性だけでなく今までになかったデザイン、カラーリングを生み出すKanyeの創造力が反映されているスニーカーだ。そんなYeezyシリーズの中でも今回は、Air Yeezyシリーズを紹介していきたい。

Air Yeezyのサンプル作成工程
NikeのクリエイティブディレクターのマークとデザイナーティンカーとKanyeはBack to the FutureのAir Magやアニメやロボットなどをモチーフにし、NikeのスニーカーやJordanの各パーツを用いたりしながら多くのサンプルを作成した。初期のサンプルはデススターのような凹みがサイドにあるモデルで、バッテリーで光るタイプも作成されていた。元々Kanyeはグローインザソールはバッテリーで光らせるタイプを希望していたが、Nike側が実用化に向けて時間がかかることや販売価格の高騰などを懸念し断念。JordanブランドのソールはNike側から使用許可が出ず、Joradn3に似たソール形状をしたエアアサルトのソールをベースに光を貯蓄して暗闇で光る現在のモデルが完成した。
Air Yeezy sample process
Kanye was inspired by Air Mag,Robotech and other anime when he started designing. Kanye wanted to use battery-operated illuminating sole for Air Yeezy,But Nike found it to be more practical to drop and it is going to be more expensive. He also wanted to use Jordan6 and 3’s sole,but Nike didn’t allowed it. So He decided to use Nike Air Assault Retro’s sole with glow in the dark material. Kanye,Nike creative designer Mark Smith and Designer Tinker Hatfield they talked each other about Air Yeezy Sample then created samples.
Nike Air Yeezy Grammy (グラミー サンプル)
初めてKanyeがAir Yeezyを世間に公開したモデル。Kanyeが同モデルを着用し、カメラの前に現れたのは、2008年のグラミー賞の時であった。その時は誰もYeezyの存在を知らない為、まさかラッパーのKanyeが自身のシグネチャーモデルを着用しているなど想像もしていなかった。
These are first sample of Nike Air Yeezy which Kanye showed them for public at Grammy stage in 2008. Nobody expected Kanye has own signature sneaker from Nike at the time. It was a beginning of Yeezy history.
Jordan VI Nike Air Yeezy(ジョーダン6サンプル)
KanyeとMarkがYeezyのサンプルを多く作ったが、その中にはJordan6のソールを使用した同モデルもあった。KanyeはJordanのパーツを使用したかったようだがNike側が断ったとのこと。
This sample has same sole of Air Jordan 6. Kanye wanted o use Jordan elements,but Nike didn’t allow it.
Graphic Tongue Nike Air Yeezy Sample(グラフィックタン サンプル)
素材や色の組み合わせを試すために作成された同サンプル。タンの裏側に柄があり、ソールにイエローの差し色が入っており、2トーンになっているのが特徴となっている。
This model was made for material and color test sample.It features graphic used behind the tongue, and the two tone midsole.
Tinker Hatfield” Nike Air Yeezy(ティンカーハットフィールド サンプル)
Jordanのデザイナーとして知られているTinkerが着用していたサンプル。ブルーのストラップにレーザー刻印が入っている以外はZen Greyとほぼ同様のサンプル。レーザーが入っていないサンプルもあったが両モデルとも発売されることはなかった。
Tinker Hatfield Nike Air Yeezy worn by Tinker once. It features Zen Grey Yeezy samples with lasering design on blue strap. And there is another pair which doesn’t have leasring design. Could be these are different sample stages.
Laser Nike Air Yeezy(レーザー サンプル)
シカゴ出身でKanyeが主催するGOOD music所属のGLCが所持していたモデル。初めて靴紐を束ねるシューロックが搭載されたサンプルである。
Originally given to GLC from GOOD music. This sample features lasering used on strap and first sample to have lacelocks.
Neoprene Nike Air Yeezy(ネオプレン サンプル)
最終のカラーテストのために作成されたモデルの一つ。KanyeとMarkはこのサンプルに満足、素材や大まかなカラーリングは、市販されたBlinkに繋がっている。
Neoprene Nike Air Yeezy is the final all black sample. It features an all black upper and neoprene on the toe. Mark Smith and Kanye approved neoprene material for retail pair.
Bone Nike Air Yeezy Sample(ボーン サンプル)
カラーテストのために作られた同サンプルは、その後販売されたゼングレーのベースになった。カニエが主催するGOOD Music所属のKid Cudiが2008年に着用していた。
Bone Nike Air Yeezy sample was created for color testing. The coloring of this pair looks similar to Zen Grey. Kid Cudi from GOOD music was seen wearing these samples in late 2008.
Split Sole Nike Air Yeezy Sample(スピリットソール サンプル)
カラーテストのために作成された同サンプルソールは赤と黒とグローインザダークで構成されている。他のサンプルと異なり、片方のプルタブに市販されたモデルとは異なる刺繍が入っている。また、アッパーの最上部にある紐穴が2つしかないこと、そしてグローインザダークソールに赤の着色がされている。
Split Sole Nike Air Yeezy This Yeezy sample created for color testing.This pair has many unique features that have not been seen on any other Yeezys. It features only one pull tab has embroidery which different style from release versions. There are also only two eyelets at the top of the and mixing sole red and glow in the dark.
Zen Grey/Neon Challenge Red Nike Air Yeezy Sample(ゼングレー/ネオン チャレンンジングレッド サンプル)
最終のカラーサンプルとして作成された同モデルは、ソールがレッドとなっている。別名がジャスパーと呼ばれ、後にLouis Vuittonより発売されたジャスパーに繋がっているとされている。(LVのジャスパーはソールがピンク)
Zen Grey/Neon Challenge Red Nike Air Yeezy The final pair of color test samples. This pair called Jasper sample, due to the fact color blocking is similar to Louis Vuitton Jasper.
Fire Red Nike Air Yeezy(ファイヤーレッド サンプル)
Glow in the darkツアーなどを含めKanye自身がよく着用していたミッドソールがレッドカラーのモデル。4色目として発売されるのではないかと考えられていたが結局発売されることはなかった。
Fire Red Nike Air Yeezy sample has been seen on Kanye many times since Glow in the Dark Tour. It features a mix of black and grey on the upper with fire red and glow in the dark sole. Actually this pair was considered as a fourth color way.But,never come out.
Black/White” Nike Air Yeezy(ブラック&ホワイト サンプル)
最も多くのサンプルが作成されているブラックの中の一つ。同サンプルの特徴は暗闇で光らせるとグローインザダークのソールとスウォッシュのカラーリングが異なること。他のモデルとは異なりスウォッシュ部分だけは青色に光る。
This sample created for color and glow test. It features all black, suede and lather upper. It looks like similar to other black pair,but actually swoosh and sole glow different colors. The sole glows same as others, the swoosh glows blue.
All Glow In The Dark Air Yeezy sample(グローインザダーク サンプル)
裏地にペイズリーのような柄が施してあり、アッパー全体がグローインンザダークとなっているサンプル。ナイキのイノベーターTiffany BeersがAirMagのイベントにて着用していたモデル。
All Glow in the dark pair was worn by Nike Innovator Tiffany Beers. It features all glow in the dark upper and graphic used inside of sneaker.

Air Yeezy(2009)
初のKanyeのシグネチャースニーカーとして発売されたAir Yeezyシリーズ。LanvinやBalenciagaのような高品質なスニーカーを作るということをテーマに1987年に誕生したスニーカーエアアサルトをベースにし作成された。全体には柔らかい高品質のレザーを使用。Yeezyの頭文字のYを各所に用い、グローインザダークをソールに採用。現在のAdidasシリーズにまで用いられている
ストラップはここから始まった。
Air Yeezy is first Kanye’s signature sneaker. Kanye wanted to create high quality like Lanvin and Balenciaga. Kanye used soft leather for upper and Air Assault sole with glow in the dark material for sole. This strap still using for Adidas Yeezy boost 750.
