Every song that beabadoobee has released from her 18th September-set fourth album, Pylon, has been better than the last. Towering in its emotional capacity and refined in its artistic ideas, “Memories” has an effortlessness that can only be achieved by a musician deeply assured within their own craft.
Shygirl – “Alyse”
Shygirl is back, even if for us she never really left, and she is kicking off a new era with “Alyse”, her first release of the year. The London artist and DJ swaps some of her usual clubby beats for something more cinematic, layering vocals over cello and distorted production as she explores the comfort of falling for someone when everything else feels uncertain. The track comes with a three-act short film that follows a high-speed chase and back-alley encounters, developed from an original story co-written by Shygirl herself.

After releasing his Weekend Rockstar album earlier this year in February, Feng is back with his latest EP in the form of “Summer at Camp Lakepine”. It builds on the British rapper’s funky, animated production as he lays his signature nonchalant vocals for a vibe that’s infectious, head-bopping and kind of liberating. “Fake Friends” is the vibey focus track.

Lucy Bedroque’s new release is “SPEED DEMON”, their first new track since last year’s debut mixtape “Unmusique”. The 20-year-old artist has been making, producing and rapping since 2020, building a sound that jumps between genres. The new track comes with a suitably eclectic video, directed by Neve Abcari, which sees Lucy in an abandoned, candle-lit house surrounded by surreal demon-like figures. With their new mixtape “c” on the way, “SPEED DEMON” feels like a pretty good preview of what’s coming next.

The UK’s next big band, Westside Cowboy, condenses their self-coined ‘Britainicana’ into a rousing, intricate and sensational debut album. It Goes On’s 35 minutes fly by, with a great variety of tones and styles amalgamating together, sometimes within the same track. Lead single, “Worried Age” is of the highest echelon in terms of emotion and effervescence.
Remi Wolf – “Bottle”
Remi Wolf’s no longer stuck in the Mud trying to get her “Bottle”. The release of this single marks the announcement of her third studio album, a project that is her most grounded yet. Careful, “cleansing” and considered, this feels like Remi at her most peaceful. On “Bottle”, ironically, she feels free, rather than bottled. Her husky, soulful vocals flow over a spacious, indie-rock melody.
K-Trap ft. Nemzzz – “DOING THE MOST”

Summer isn’t over with the ultimate Roadrunner Destin Conrad with the release of his Caribbean-sparked EP. London five-piece bby are back with “Ur Bedroom”, the latest taste of their upcoming second album 2, out in November. The guitar-heavy track follows July’s “Change” and comes after a pretty wild year for the band, who have picked up a growing audience across the UK, Europe and North America. Things really kicked off after frontman Benjy, Fred again..’s younger brother, appeared on his and LATIN MAFIA’s mixtape “9 months & 50 hours”. Now they’re taking that momentum into their own music, with “Ur Bedroom” showing off the loud, messy energy that’s made their live shows such a draw.

Rich, saccharine and sentimental, Rex Orange County and Daniel Caesar really are a match made in heaven on their gorgeous new collaborative single, “Indecision”. The pair will both be heading to east London next weekend to support Tyler, the Creator at this year’s All Points East.

If you “Wannabe” Cruz Beckham…you’ve got to get with his recent single. Ahead of the release of his new debut EP, “Wear & Tear”, and what’s set to be an electric performance on the Reading & Leeds stages, the youngest Beckham boy is riffing up a storm. Copenhagen-based singer-songwriter GB is keeping his “Belly” full, with the release of his second-studio album, Herzsprung. Spacious, guitar-led and quietly unravelling, the track sees him at his most assured. His husky vocals drift between the grooves, while warped guitars and a restless rhythm give the song an adventurous edge. There’s a looseness here that feels intentional – playful, immediate and alive.

South Korean alt-rock band Silica Gel just released Ballad of You, their first studio album in around three years.
