“This girl I shot in Filicudi, Italy last year in August represents summer for me. The heat, the sun, the water, an Italian girl I had never met and she let me take her portrait.”

“Summer = no clothing + ice cream. All in one picture. This picture just looks so juicy, just like your holiday should feel like.”

“Summer’s the time I look forward to most. It’s staying out late and laughing with friends until my ribs hurt. You jump in the ocean for a dip, pick fresh blueberries, and everything starts to feel simple again.”

“It smells like crushed grass and something burning, and everything feels like it’s just waiting to be missed.”

“When asked to choose an image that represents summer to me, I spontaneously thought of this still life. I particularly like the poetry of its light, composition, colours and textures. It contains a narrative where generosity and sensuality surface, reminding me of the suspended moment of a summer morning. One can sense the flavours and smells of coffee and fruit, as well as the simplicity of everyday life. For me, it evokes the relaxation of a summer vacation, but also sharing and friendship.”

“The change of a flower from bloom to seed is a beautiful moment that I try to capture. The delicate passing of summer.”

“The Terri Jayne Theatre Arts dancers perform for the Lightwater Village Summer Fete. The Summer Fete is a melting-pot of Britishness, in the most part unchanged for many years. Marching bands, Morris dancers and cotton candy. With the prevalent use of technology and accelerated culture will these traditions still exist or become further novelty?”

“The mountains give solitude, reflection, exploration, and a dreamlike sense of observation. Waiting for light, not creating it. No people in these pictures, just the world. A visual cleanse, and reset in the crisp mountain air.”

“When I think of summer I always picture that magical first swim – floating in the sea, feeling the sun on my skin and enjoying the silence.”

“It was the most thrilling and heart-racing time of my life. Those summer days in Caochangdi in Beijing were filled with excitement and a sense of wonder. Each day’s events felt like unwrapping early Christmas gifts, one by one.
“Even now, I carry those memories close to my heart as I continue to create. Still wandering and still dreaming within that unforgettable summer.”

“In summer an invisible dust as harsh as red-hot chalk was blown into even the best-protected corners of the imagination by mad winds that took the roofs off the houses and carried away children through the air.”
