Takasi Murakami reimagines traditional Japanese art in new exhibition
Housed in its Grosvenor Hill gallery, London’s Gagosian unveils a new exhibition presented by Takashi Murakami dubbed Japanese Art History a la Takashi Murakami. The Tokyo born and raised polymath – who triumphs on his playful anime-inspired cartoons – offers his own ‘Murakamized’ interpretations of traditional Japanese paintings as a means to comment on the Westernisation of Japan’s ancient legacy. Weaving his way through an array of iconic Japanese landmarks: the mythical gardens of Kyoto, Daigoji Temple’s cherry blossom and more, Murakami’s signature ‘Mr. DOB’ character and other familiar flower faces dot themselves around the reimagined paintings. The exhibition will be on view between December 10, 2024 and March 8, 2025, with limited-edition catalogues documenting the artist’s 2022 exhibition from the Gagosian New York also up for grabs. Alighieri teams up with British Pregnancy Advisory Service
Modern heirloom and jewellery visionary, Alighieri, is siding with women in an all new charity collaboration. With its poetic pieces ranging from ancient ritual to celestially inspired, the London jewellery brand is doing far more for its buyers than building their collection of shining accessories this Christmas. Throughout December, 10 per cent of all online sales will be donated to the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, known as the UK’s current largest abortion provider, delivering 100,000 abortions yearly.
Founder Rosh Mahtani OBE crafted her brand as a place of light amongst darkness, and following her own experience of abortion, felt obliged to help others in a similar position. “As women’s rights across the world continue to be under threat, it feels all the more crucial to raise awareness and proceeds for charities that support and campaign for women’s health – whilst they still remain perilously underfunded. This Christmas, two years later, it felt really important to me that when buying an Alighieri gift, a piece of that would go towards supporting women,” said Mahtani.

Issey Miyake’s accessories line debuts in London
First launched in 2018, Good Goods Issey Miyake is officially landing in the big smoke, having made its debut in London on December 2.
Miyake’s accessories line, Good Goods initially made waves in Japan with a mission statement centred around complementing the needs of the wearer and works in tandem with the goings-on of day-to-day life using traditionally handcrafted techniques like twisting, knitting and weaving. Here, four different iterations of bags see themselves intertwine with traditional Japanese techniques: the Fuwa Fuwa bag, for example, is crafted entirely from a single rectangular piece of fabric, inspired by Japanese noragi work jackets. In variations of turquoises, charcoal greys, coral pinks and olive greens, Good Goods Issey Miyake makes the perfect partner for life’s everyday activities.
To mark the arrival of Good Goods Issey Miyake in London, a special installation titled Kufu is currently on view at the Issey Miyake on 33 Brook. Go get your bag! FGB
FENDI is yelling ‘Timber’ with new ‘Aenigma’ collection by Lewis Kemmenoe
Much like the name of the collection, Fendi’s newest collaboration with British furniture designer, Lewis Kemmenoe is a riddle, or rather a puzzle to piece together. Having opened the showcase of collectible treasures at Design Miami / 2024, the Aenigma line fuses the designer’s bold, avant-garde vision with Fendi’s craftsmanship, transforming timber, stone and polished metal into striking art pieces. The range features three chairs, a wall panel, vases, lamps, a table, a cabinet and perhaps most exciting of all, a reworked Fendi Peekaboo bag – each a testament to this collaborative craftsmanship. Organic components like wood, bark, alabaster and stone merge seamlessly with aluminium and brass, while patchworked timber panelling evokes the intricate outlines of garment patterns. IP
Bon voyage, Louis Vuitton fans! The French fashion house is presenting its autumn/winter 2025 men’s pre-collection by Pharrell Williams, setting sail to the golden age of Transatlantic travel that bound Paris and Miami together back in the 19th century. Harking back to the days of dandyism, Williams instils his contemporary stamp onto the pre-fall men’s collection by dividing it into two parts: the sea and the sand. The results are splendid. Double-breasted blazers bathe in naval colour palettes or boating patterns that mimic the Monogram Regatta print. A series of re-imagined dandy suits pair themselves with sailor-style berets, silk bandanas and paisley stoles. Elsewhere, decorated by hotel key charms, leather trunk-like accessories feature the Heritage Monogram motifs with metal accents. Steering Louis Vuitton’s ship, Williams anchors together a carefully created collection, filled with expert tailoring, luxury loungewear and naval-nuances. FGB
