Snoop Dogg’s daughter Cori “Chocc” Broadus revealed that she moved in with her then-boyfriend, now husband, Wayne “Deuce” Polk when she was 19 years old.
Broadus opened up about their relationship in a recent conversation with BET about her recently released EP, Journals to Johnny. In it, she spoke about how her family embraced Polk — who is a co-writer and creative director on the project — early on.
“I think from the jump, everybody knew Wayne was a good guy. I actually moved out of my parents’ house and I moved in with him at the age of 19,” she said. “Them just seeing how he treated me, how he was there for me–he was low-key taking care of me at one point. Just seeing him being a man, him having a car, him having a job–it wasn’t the bum behavior of what we were used to. It was a real man who was there for his lady.”
Broadus then spoke about the toxic relationships that she’d previously experienced prior to getting with Polk. “I think in the beginning it was very uncomfortable because I was used to toxicity,” she admitted.. “I was used to the adrenaline being very high, going through the phone and not liking damn near half of L.A. because he was dealing with half of L.A. Just that young, toxic puppy love.”
“So when Wayne came into my life and he showed me, ‘This is how a real man is supposed to love you,’ it was awkward for me and very uncomfortable because I never got to experience that,” she added. “I was used to the cheating, I was used to the disrespect, I was used to just everything [being] negative. So when Wayne was coming at me full throttle with nothing but positivity, it was very uncomfortable and I had to pray to God to help me accept this type of love that I was receiving.”
A few days ago, Snoop and his daughter appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show where the rapper revealed that he got her one million dollars as a wedding gift — but hadn’t had the chance to open it yet. “If it was me, my wedding would have been for $100 [thousand], and $900 [thousand] would have went in my pocket,” he joked.
Broadus and Polk’s wedding will be covered in the new show Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story and follow them as they try to plan their wedding. It premiered on Dec. 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on E!. New episodes will also be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
