Rumors—and Google searches—estimate that The Rock net worth is a whopping $800 million. Not that it’s anyone’s business, and such estimates are always questionable at best, but it’s safe to say Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is doing very well.
As is tradition, Speedy Morman recently asked about this Google search claim during his conversation with Johnson for Complex’s 360.
The Rock declined to get specific, opting instead to reflect on the financial difficulties he faced in his early 20s. These moments, Johnson explained, have stuck with him his entire life regardless of how much success he’s seen across wrestling and film and TV (and beyond).
“Oh, I don’t know,” he said when asked about the $800 million claim. From there, he looked back on a time in his life when he and his father were driving from Miami to Tampa after he was cut from the Canadian Football League.
The moment is a key part of The Rock’s eventual rise, and the amount of money he had on him at the time later inspired the name of his and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions production company.
“That kind of stuff will define you, man,” The Rock told Speedy. “And that stuff, for me, it’s probably why I need a therapist. That’s the kind of shit that stays here in the forefront of my mind.”
These days, despite his many successes and presumed financial stability, Johnson said he still feels like the proverbial rug could be pulled out from under him at any minute. But instead of letting this feeling paralyze him, he uses it as inspiration to keep moving forward.
“People who are close to me in my circle, my orbit, know, to me I’m a week away from getting evicted again,” he said. “I’m a week away from having that seven bucks. So I keep that, and yeah, it motivates me.”
See Rock and Speedy’s full conversation in the video above. Rock’s net worth speculation response joins prior entries on this topic from Cardi B, GloRilla, and outgoing President Joe Biden.
While Rock is currently out on a Red One promo circuit, it’s his role in Benny Safdie’s upcoming The Smashing Machine that will see him exploring new territory as an actor. In the film, due next year from A24, Johnson stars as former MMA fighter Mark Kerr.
