The Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation has partnered with Doritos to launch “Bold Creative Futures.” This nine-week educational program is designed to give the next generation of creative leaders a head start through hands-on experiences within media, design, marketing and content creation.
Launching at the beginning of 2025, students from the Westbrook Academy will have access to guest lectures from the aforementioned industries. “Supporting the next generation is what it’s all about for me. This partnership with Doritos gives students at Westbrook Academy a chance to dive into creative paths, build their confidence, and really bring their ideas to life. We’re changing up traditional education by focusing on hands-on learning—giving these kids real-world experiences they can learn from,” says Russell Westbrook.
The Bold Creative Futures program is more than a way to keep young people busy. It’s helping to also fill a hole within creative industries. Russell Westbrook and Doritos are tapping into Black and brown communities and giving young people a chance to enter into fields in which their presence is a minority, with the hopes of leveling the playing field.
Westbrook is a direct result of those who invested in him and now he’s paying it forward. The goal of the program is to push boundaries and show young people their creative joys can help increase their confidence and possibly lead to fulfilling careers.
The deep commitment to community empowerment and youth education through mentorship programs is at the heart of this initiative, and Doritos is excited to support the program. By fueling bold ideas and encouraging creativity among students, “Bold Creative Futures” is ensuring the future is in good hands.
