Koteri – “Marina del Ray”

A standout emerging act from London’s alternative space in the past few months, breakout trio Koteri have shared news of a debut EP due in early November, and share a latest teaser. “Marina del Ray” creates a gorgeous melodramatic timbre, progressive in its instrumentation and structuring, subtle in all the best way. Alfa Mist – “Just Dreams”

Electro-clash troubadours The Hellp’s latest track “Go Somewhere” is without pretence. From mid-west emo-tinged melodic phrasing to raucous electronicisms, the cut is a strange melding, nostalgic and unsettling in coalescence. It’s certainly one of the most interesting songs you’ll hear this week, and comes accompanied by a rather disconcerting video. Don’t be fooled.

Tom Misch – “Better Days”

Esteemed British polymath Tom Misch continues to spread his artistic wings, sharing a third single in recent succession. “Better Days” is tender, benign, and uplifting, performed to perfection by the highly talented vocalist and guitarist. What an affable tune, thanks Tom!

Chy Cartier – “Yo”

On this latest single, “Yo” Cartier does some of her best, most domineering work that brings old school drill flows in abundance. The Bkay produced beat is suitably ominous and hazy too.

Uma – “Luther”

A truly radiant collection of cuts, Uma’s new EP “Luther” is softly intoxicating, driven by the singer-songwriter’s enchanting vocals and provoking approach to songwriting. Closer “Cowboy” is particularly poetic and piercing.

Jaz Karis – SAFE FLIGHT

South London’s R&B starlet Jaz Karis has finally unveiled her debut album, SAFE FLIGHT, and it matches expectation. A rich, seamlessly smooth and wonderfully expressive group of tracks, the LP further cements Karis’ position as one of genre’s best in the UK.
