Lately, ballet has occupied a prime spot in the cultural imagination. Thanks to Timothée Chalamet’s controversial comments about the highly technical art form going the way of the dodo, the rest of the world came out in force to declare that it was, in fact, not dead. We imagine that, within that group of people, sat London fashion designer Saul Nash, who’s just made his own declarative statement regarding the health of ballet.

This week, acclaimed choreographer Sir Wayne McGregor opened his new show at the Royal Ballet in London, and tapped Nash to design the futuristic costumes. Titled Wayne McGregor: Alchemies, the show features the world premiere of a brand new work by McGregor called ‘Quantum Souls’, which is the performance for which Nash has designed the costumes.

“Designing the costumes was really in collaboration with myself and Wayne,” Nash told the Royal Ballet. “It was really important to create characters, or this idea of the collective, or this idea of collective individualities, so when you look at each costume its really an expression of each individual dancer.” Catch Nash’s costumes at Wayne McGregor: Alchemies until May 6, or scroll through the gallery above.

In other fashion news this week, the second weekend of Coachella brought a whole new round of celebrity style moments, while we also thought about how influencer culture has ruined the festival’s style over time. Elsewhere, former High Fashion Twitter lynchpin Sofía Abadi released the debut collection from her brand Abadi, while we also caught up with Swedish pop sensation Zara Larsson about her new swimwear line and her much-hyped fashion “rebrand.” For everything else you might’ve missed this week, scroll through the list below.

Yesterday evening (April 23), Louis Vuitton took over London’s Berkeley Square to celebrate the launch of the Louis Vuitton Hotel pop-up. Mayfair’s latest opening marks a big birthday for the French brand, celebrating 130 years of the legendary LV monogram print – a symbol of endurance and legacy. An immersive experience, the hotel includes ind rooms dedicated to the Speedy, Keepall, Noé, Alma and Neverfull, and is open until June 21. Head here for more info.

Earlier this afternoon, New Balance headed to Somerset House, where the brand kicked off the London Marathon weekend. Although the race isn’t until Sunday, the sportswear giant got us warmed up with the opening of the London Run House, a community hub positioned along the marathon route. The space is open from now until the race ends on Sunday.

After recent popular collaborations – including a link-up with Travis Scott and a major Nike launch – Beats has reunited with Blackpink’s Jennie for a brand new pair of headphones: a special edition in onyx black. To mark the occasion, the singer also released a brand new unreleased track in collaboration with Apple. See here.

As well as revealing a Gucci tapestry exhibition during Milan Design Week, Demna also unveiled a brand new campaign this week. For the Italian brand’s pre-fall campaign, it introduces Generation Gucci, a series of 84 images of individuals that embody the Gucci spirit. See here.

Swedish eyewear brand Chimi caught the internet’s attention earlier this week with its SS26 campaign, starring Precious Renee Tucker, French rapper Jwles, and creatives Sophia Alvarez and Molly Fredriksson, to name a few. In the video, directed by Shadrinsky, the cast stands on trial, hiding behind their sunglasses. See here.

To say that the Simone Rocha and Crocs collaboration has been a success would be an understatement. Head to any fashion show, industry event or pub in East London, and the fashion girls will be out in force in their sparkly Simone Crocs. Now, a fifth instalment of the link-up is hitting shelves next month, and Rocha is the first designer to be let loose on the Soho Sandal, which joins the uber-popular Ballerina platform in the collaborative collection. The Simone Rocha x Crocs drop five will be available globally through Simone Rocha boutiques and the Crocs app from May 1.
