Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” ranked as the No. 1 song of 2024 by Complex, entered Sunday night with five total Grammys nominations, including Record of the Year. Could the track sweep all five categories, as 15-time winner Eminem predicted back in December?
That remains to be seen as of this writing, but it seems like a very real possibility for the track (now 37 weeks deep on the Hot 100) at the 2025 Grammys ceremony, again hosted by Trevor Noah. For Record of the Year, Kendrick faces stiff competition from The Beatles, Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift with Post Malone.
This year’s Grammys come at a somber time for the Los Angeles area. In response to the devastating wildfires in the region, the Recording Academy and MusiCares launched the MusiCares Fire Relief campaign to help raise money for those affected. The two have also partnered with the California-based humanitarian organization Direct Relief, the Los Angeles County-focused California Community Foundation, and the Pasadena Community Foundation.
“In addition to raising money for music people, we are proud to add these three incredible partners who are supporting the Los Angeles region in other ways to maximize our efforts of aiding those impacted by this crisis,” Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said last month. “We are so grateful to these organizations for their collaboration and look forward to bringing music professionals and fans together on Sunday, Feb. 2 to help rebuild and uplift Los Angeles and its people.”
Beyoncé led all nominees this year with 11 total nods for her country and Americana-exploring Cowboy Carter album, the second entry in an expected trilogy. The Album of the Year category sees Bey going up against André 3000, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Jacob Collier, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift. Despite 32 career wins heading into Sunday night, Beyoncé, as her husband Jay-Z famously pointed out during a previous ceremony, has never won Album of the Year.
More career firsts could also come for Charli, whose artful deep-dive into existential malaise through the lens of on-the-brink nightlife, Brat, led to eight total nominations (and several pre-broadcast wins) at the 2025 ceremony. These mark the first solo nominations and wins for the pop avant-gardist, who was previously nominated for her appearance on Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” a decade ago.
There were, of course, also some glaring snubs among this year’s nominees class. The classic lineup reunion album from pop-punk pioneers blink-182, One More Time, received zero nominations, deeply frustrating the writer of this piece.
Below, see a list of select 2025 Grammys winners as they’re announced. Winners’ names will be in bold. For a more in-depth look at all of this year’s winners, see the official Recording Academy site.
