Timothée Chalamet pulled off a shocking homage to Bob Dylan during the New York premiere of A Complete Unknown.

As People reports, the actor, 28, wore blond, highlighted choppy bangs to the event on Friday (Dec. 13) as a tribute to Dylan, who he portrays in the James Mangold-directed biopic. Chalamet’s hair and entire outfit, complete with a black jacket, blue beanie and plaid gray scarf, was in dedication to Dylan’s appearance at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival premiere of Western drama Masked and Anonymous, which he co-wrote, scored and starred in.

While the blond bangs are likely a wig or clip-ins, Chalamet is currently sporting facial hair to film his upcoming sports drama Marty Supreme. While on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show this week, Chalamet shared his admiration for Dylan, likening him to Frank Ocean.

“So this movie doesn’t demystify him. But when people in pop culture are able to break through and then retain a quality of themselves—like Frank Ocean today does the same thing, I think—then it’s like, you gotta revere these people in my opinion,” he said early in the conversation.

“Because they figured it out. You know, if you’re sensitive enough to be great and then you’re smart enough to protect it. Now he’s got me as his foot warrior and I’m going out and I’m spreading the gospel of Bob.”

In A Complete Unknown, the actor portrays an early ’60s-era Dylan, who got the folk musician’s stamp of approval on X earlier this month.

“There’s a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!),” Dylan wrote. “Timothée Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me.”

A Complete Unknown comes to theaters on Dec. 25.
