FOMO is a real feeling that can sometimes be all-consuming. Over the last month, pop music fans across Europe have felt a communal FOMO over missing Charli xcx and Troye Sivan’s Sweat tour. Thousands of videos have been filled with comment sections with some iteration of ‘WHY IS THIS NOT COMING TO EUROPE’ and ‘EUROPE HAS BEEN ROBBED’. While it was not quite the tour itself, H&M has worked on the next best thing. In September, H&M brought out Charli xcx for its London Fashion Week party and on Wednesday night (30 October) the Swedish brand brought the Ryan to her Sharpay to Germany to give us a taste of the party.

Continuing its worldwide event series with another event in Berlin, H&M also enlisted the likes of Caroline Polachek and Arca. The queue started early and by 8pm, crowds of fans, Berlin creatives and ravers had gathered outside the venue waiting patiently for the chance to party with the pop stars.

Each event has celebrated different aspects of H&M’s rebrand and history. This time round the focal point was the drop of the Pre-Loved Archive collection. Curated and reinterpreted by stylist Kate Phelan, the capsule collection brings together over 20 years of brand collaborations.

“The Pre-Loved Archive represents the past, present, and future of fashion,” explains Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of Design at H&M. “I’m so excited that this project will introduce all of our greatest collaborations to an entirely new generation of customers, all while encouraging people to reuse and reimagine the collections, wearing them in new combinations, and falling in love with them all over again.”

For those who could not make it, below we broke down the key takeaways from the night.

If you’ve never been to Berlin before, chances are when you think of a Berlin party you think of a dark, sweaty warehouse with people dancing and making out. That’s pretty much what Wednesday night at Kraftwerk felt like. Located above the iconic nightclub Tresot, the venue was the perfect look at what an authentic night out in Berlin looks like. Think, beaming red lights as the bass drops and musky smoke-filled air.

Similar to past H&M events, Weirdcore designed trippy, visual installations that were projected in the space and stage thoughout the night.

No one does a vocal flip like Ms Caroline Polacheck. Opening up the night by performing her signature runs on “Welcome to My Island”, she set the tone for the evening with her whimsical performance, putting the audience into a trance ready to party.

Fresh from his tour and ten naps later, Troye Sivan followed up next. There have been rumblings that these days the pop girlies do not give us choreography the same way they used to in the 2000s, but in Troye’s performance he proved that he is not one of those pop stars. With his signature, sexy moves he and his dancers brought all the iconic Sweat tour choreography. DJ Jada kept the crowd joining between Troye’s set and the last act.

Closing out the night Arca did a full DJ set. Hearing “Aquamarine” by Addison Rae and “Did It Again” by Shakira at a techno club is probably not what you would expect but Arca did it, and she did it well. Lasting just over an hour, her set was the perfect way to close the evening. Finishing her set she said, “They’re telling me I have two more minutes” and spoke about continuing the party. If curfews were not a thing chances are there would still be people dancing in the venue by 12pm the next day.

It likely does not come as a surprise to anyone that a lot of parties have celebs as the highlight of the night. But on Wednesday night they were all blended in with the other 1,000 people present and just had a good time like the rest of the guests. So chances are when guests were bouncing around to “Rush” by Troye Sivan they did not even realise they were near to the German queen of making things from scratch herself, Nara Smith. Supermodel Irina Shayk was also present, wearing a gothic look from the Pre-Loved collection, alongside German influencer Caroline Daur.

If you have missed out on the events so far, worry not there are still a few more to go. Keep you eye on here for upcoming events to have the chance to enjoy the fun before it is done forever.
