Snoop Dogg has teamed up with Jhené Aiko for “Gorgeous,” the first single off his upcoming album Missionary, which Dr. Dre is handling. Check it out below.
On Friday, the West Coast rap legend unleashed the track on streaming platforms, and it finds him dishing out slick bars over a G-Funk-inspired instrumental made by his longtime collaborator as well as Blu2th, Preach Bal4, and FredWrec. The song will be found on Snoop’s upcoming project, Missionary, which is slated to arrive on December 13.
Missionary will be Snoop’s twentieth album overall and first in two years since releasing BODR in 2022, following his acquisition of Death Row Records. Dr. Dre is leading the way with production alongside contributions from other producers, and it marks the first time Dre and Snoop have worked on a full album since the latter’s 1993 debut album, Doggystyle. Guest features include Eminem, 50 Cent, Jelly Roll, Method Man, Sting, the late Tom Petty, and more.
In addition to the release of “Gorgeous,” Snoop has announced he’s joining forces with UNION Los Angeles to release a special edition collaboration inspired by Missionary. The collab consists of two Missionary x UNION Box Sets, which include a Union x Snoop t-shirt and Missionary CD.
During a conversation with Complex, Dre spoke about working with Snoop again and how “proud” he is of the music they were able to create in the studio. The LA natives first linked up on the 1992 track “Deep Cover” before Snoop joined Dre again on “Nuthin’ But a G Thang” and “Fuck With Dre Day.”
“After 30 years, believe it or not, man, this is our first time working on an album in 30 years,” said Dre. “I did Doggystyle for him 30 years ago. We’ve done things in between, a song here and there, and did shows and shit, but this is the first time that we got together and worked on an entire album in 30 years. I feel like it’s some of the best music I’ve ever made, and I’m really proud of it.”
