After the public ending of his engagement, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson was cool on relationship talk during an episode of the Nightcap podcast.
The episode released on Monday, a day after Johnson’s ex-fianceé and Selling Sunset star Sharelle Rosado announced that the couple had broken up.
“Chad and I are no longer together please stop tagging us,” Rosado wrote on X. “He is a free man, ladies.”
On Nightcap, Johnson seemed speechless when co-host Shannon Sharpe mentioned Rosado by name.
Sharpe joked that Johnson looked like he was in a “dungeon” or “basement,” to which the former NFL star shared that he was actually in Houston for a day party.
“I’d been on a flight back trying to fix that,” Sharpe replied.
“Oh, I can’t because I’m—I’m just saying, I’m blocked,” Johnson revealed. “I don’t know what to do.”
He continued, “If you live it publicly, you break up publicly? It’s OK. I can deal with that, though. Aye, unc, the stove is hot, boy. I won’t touch it.”
Johnson then claimed that Rosado didn’t ask him to stop contacting her and even asked Sharpe to be “the moderator” for the exes to reconcile.
“That shit ain’t funny, man. That shit hurt, boy,” Johnson said about Sharpe laughing at his pain.
“There’s no point in touching the stove if it’s still hot. I got to let the stove cool down,” Johnson added, referring to the tension between him and Rosado.
While Sharpe urged the exes to “stay offline,” Johnson said that he only posts “normal” content about football on X and seemingly spoke directly to Rosado, saying, “You ain’t have to be so public.”
Earlier in the episode, Sharpe teased Johnson about dating, although the athlete asked him to stop.
“No more comments about relationships, not right now,” Johnson said. “I’m in the doghouse right now.”
Johnson and Rosado got engaged in January 2023 after one year of dating, they confirmed to People at the time.
